[K-pop] “Song of Cell No. 8” / An Ye-eun

“Song of Cell No. 8” is a generic name for songs sung by independence activists such as Yu Gwan-sun, who was imprisoned in Room 8 of Women’s Prison at Seodaemun Prison for the March 1st Movement in 1919.

Immediately after the March 1st Movement, seven independence activists, including Yu Gwan-sun(유관순), Shim Myeong-cheol(심명철), Eo Yun-hee(어윤희), Kwon Ae-ra(권애라), Shin Kwan-bin(신관빈), Lim Myung-ae(임명애), and Kim Hyang-hwa(김향화), were imprisoned in Room 8 of Women’s Prison at Seodaemun Prison(서대문형무소). It is said that they often wrote and sang songs to overcome the fear of being in prison.

On February 22, 2019, singer Ahn Ye-eun released it under the title “Song of Cell No. 8 (Women’s March)”.
