A newborn child received his first government risk assessment six minutes after birth yesterday, according to records released by the National Predictive Governance Authority.
The infant’s score was generated before his name was officially registered. Officials stated that the assessment was not based on any future actions, but on a combination of genetic indicators, family history, behavioral
inheritance models, and long-term social environment forecasts.
The child was classified as Category Yellow, a designation assigned to citizens considered statistically more likely to require future government intervention. Authorities emphasized that the classification carries no criminal implications.
“No individual is being punished,” a spokesperson said. “The system merely identifies elevated probabilities in order to provide preventive support.”
Yet critics argue that the distinction may be largely symbolic. According to government policy, Category Yellow citizens receive enhanced educational monitoring, periodic behavioral evaluations, and continuous
developmental analysis throughout childhood.
Supporters describe the program as a scientific breakthrough capable of reducing crime, addiction, and social instability before problems emerge. Opponents call it the end of a fundamental legal principle.
“For centuries, justice began with the assumption of innocence,” said one civil rights advocate. “Now we are assigning risk before a person can even open their eyes.”
Public opinion remains sharply divided. A nationwide survey released this morning found that 61 percent of respondents support predictive classification if it improves public safety. Thirty-one percent opposed the policy, while the remainder were undecided.
The child remains unaware of the debate. His future, however, has already entered the database. And for the first time in history, a citizen’s legal story may begin before life itself truly begins.
