In the summer of the age of 27, when I visited Paris, France for training with my co-workers, the night view was full of exotic mood. The ornate buildings, the labyrinth in the garden that seems to be enchanted, and the historic streets with the traces of a thousand years are overflowing with romance.
스물 일곱 살 여름, 입사 동기생들과 프랑스 파리에 연수차 들렀을 때 본 야경은 이국적인 정취로 가득했었다. 화려하게 치장된 건물, 마법에 갇혀 버릴 것 같은 정원 속 미로, 천 년 세월의 흔적이 녹아있는 역사적인 거리에는 낭만이 넘쳐나고 있었다.
The appearance of a young stranger snooping around “Champs Elysées”, one of the world’s most popular attractions, was so unfamiliar, but the young women of Paris were so beautiful that I wanted to fall in love. After a short trip to Paris, I went to my next destination, London, but I couldn’t forget the Champs-Élysées and the women of Paris.
세계에서 가장 인기 있는 명소 중 하나인 “샹젤리제”를 기웃거리는 젊은 이방인의 모습은 매우 낯설었지만, 파리의 젊은 여인들은 사랑에 빠지고 싶을 만큼 아름다웠다. 짧은 파리 여행을 마치고 다음 목적지인 런던으로 갔지만, 샹젤리제 거리와 파리의 여인들은 잊을 수가 없었다.
I have dreamed of going to Paris again for a very long time. I wanted to hold on to the passing love while wandering the Champs-Élysées, and above all, it was because the feeling was so short and intense like a first love. The night view of Seoul is as splendid and beautiful as any other city in Europe. Now, the Gangnam area centered on Gangnam Station has become a popular spot for young people, but Gwanghwamun, Myeong-dong, and Jongno, which retain the atmosphere of the capital of the 500-year-old Joseon Dynasty, have long been loved by men and women of all ages.
서울의 야경은 유럽의 어느 도시 못지 않게 화려하고 아름답다. 지금은 강남역을 중심으로 한 강남일대가 젊은이들의 명소가 되었지만, 500년 조선왕조 도읍지의 정취를 간직한 광화문이나 명동, 그리고 종로는 오래전부터 남녀노소 모두에게 사랑받던 곳이다.
As it is now, at the end of the year, Shinsegae Department Store on Sogong-ro, Jung-gu is always crowded with people from all over the country. It is unfortunate that we live with Covid-19, but the large electronic display at Shinsegae Department Store shines as if to comfort the hearts of those who will be celebrating the end of the year. Like the phrase from the neon sign, I hope that “a magical winter fantasy” will happen to everyone.
지금도 여전하지만, 연말이 되면 중구 소공로의 신세계 백화점은 각지에서 온 사람들로 항상 북적인다. 코비드19와 더불어 살게 된 것은 불행한 일이지만, 연말연시를 맞이할 사람들의 마음을 위로하듯 신세계 백화점의 대형 전광판이 찬란하다. 네온사인이 내보내는 글귀처럼 “마법같은 겨울 판타지”가 모든 사람들에게 일어났으면 좋겠다.

Story of Travel
I am looking forward to the upcoming Christmas. I couldn’t spend a proper Christmas for two years due to Covid-19 and it was quiet. It reminds me of the old days. I miss the memory of singing the early morning song at church on Christmas day. Now, this event is gone.
곧 다가올 크리스마스가 기대되네요. 코비드-19로 2년 동안 제대로 된 크리스마스를 못보내고 조용했는데. 옛 생각이 나네요. 교회에서 크리스마스날 새벽송 돌던 기억이 참 많이 그립구요. 지금은 이런 이벤트가 없어졌지만~~
The streets of Myeong-dong, the center of Korea, which had been slowed down by Covid-19, are already busy. Especially at Shinsegae Department Store, the electronic display board in front of the building is lit up with gorgeous lights at this time of year. The night view is really nice. I think the neon signs change more than 10 times. Please come by all means.

The first store of Shinsegae Department Store operated by Shinsegae Group. It is located between Myeongdong Station and Hoehyeon Station on Seoul Subway Line 4. The first basement floor of the new building of the main store is connected to Hoehyeon Station by an underground walkway, so it is easier to access from Hoehyeon Station.
