The 41st NAKS Academic Conference and General Assembly
제41회 재미한국학교협의회(NAKS) 학술대회는 ”21세기 차세대 교육의 지향점-한인 이민사와 함께 하는 한국학교의 역할과 새로운 지향점을 중심으로”라는 주제 하에 한동만 교수가 주제 강연자로 한국학교 교사들과 만난다.
한동만 교수는 (현)서울대 아시아 연구소 방문학자, 연세대 초빙교수, 성신여대 법학과 겸임교수, (전)샌프란시스코 총영사, (전)재외동포 영사실장, (전)주 필리핀 대사관 특명 전권대사 등 다수를 역임하면서 얻게 된 깊은 통찰을 교사들에게 나눌 예정이다. 그리고 국립통일교육원 이인배 원장의 통일교육의 필요성에 대한 강의와 반크의 박기태 단장의 문화역사 강의 외, 국내외에서 검증된 우수 교사들의 수업 현장에서 활용 가능한 우수한 강의가 소개될 예정이다.
특별히 이번 학술대회에서 대한한의사협회 협찬으로 생활과 밀접한 한의학에 대한 얘기가 담긴 책이 배부된다. 중국의학과 다른 한의학에 대한 기본적인 정보들을 한국학교 교사들에게 전하고, 낙스와 한의학의 세계화에 앞장서는 대한한의사협회와의 업무협약도 이뤄진다.
또한 한국학교 재학생들의 이중언어인증제 취득 방법에 대한 강의와 한국학교를 통해 학점을 인정 받을 수 있는 방법에 대한 안내가 마련되어 있다. 또한 수준별 새롭고 다양한 한국어 교수법이 소개될 예정이라 많은 교사들이나 학교 운영자들에게 도전과 충전의 시간이 되리라 예상된다.
이번 낙스 학술대회는 3년만에 제기되는 대면 학술대회로 서로의 체온을 느낄 수 있는 거리에서 교사들 간의 좀 더 긴밀한 소통의 장이 될 것으로 기대된다. 그리고 한국과 미국내 단체로부터 현장에서 수고하는 교사들을 위한 귀한 선물도 준비되어 있다.

“41st Annual Conference of the Korean-American Schools Association (NAKS) to Focus on the Role and New Directions of Korean Schools in the 21st Century Education, with Professor Han Dong-man as Keynote Speaker”
Professor Han Dong-man, a visiting scholar at the Asian Studies Institute of Seoul National University, a visiting professor at Yonsei University, an adjunct Professor of Law at Sungshin Women’s University, and former Consul General of San Francisco, former Director-General of Overseas Korean Nationals and former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Philippines Embassy, will be addressing Korean school teachers as the keynote speaker at the 41st Annual Conference of the Korean-American Schools Association (NAKS). The conference will revolve around the theme “The Direction of 21st Century Education – The Role of Korean Schools in Collaboration with Korean Immigration History.”
Professor Han, who has gained profound insights through his various roles, will share his knowledge and experiences with the teachers. Additionally, the conference will feature lectures on the importance of reunification education by Director In-bae Lee from the National Institute for Unification Education and a cultural and historical lecture by Chairman Ki-tae Park from the VANK (Voluntary Agency Network of Korea). Furthermore, outstanding lessons validated by domestic and international educators will be introduced, which can be applied in classroom settings.
In particular, a book sponsored by the Korean Medical Association will be distributed during the conference, focusing on practical discussions about traditional Korean medicine, which is closely related to daily life. The book aims to provide Korean school teachers with basic information about traditional Korean medicine and differentiate it from Chinese medicine. It will also highlight the collaboration agreement between NAKS and the Korean Medical Association, emphasizing their efforts to promote the globalization of traditional Korean medicine.
Moreover, the conference will offer guidance on acquiring dual language certification for Korean school students and provide information on how to earn academic credits through Korean schools. Additionally, a variety of new and diverse teaching methods for Korean language instruction at different proficiency levels will be introduced, anticipating an exciting and enriching experience for teachers and school administrators.
Taking place after a three-year hiatus, this in-person conference aims to facilitate closer communication among teachers, allowing them to feel each other’s presence and share valuable insights. Furthermore, precious gifts will be prepared for teachers working tirelessly on the front lines from Korean and American organizations.
