New York City Council Candidate Debate Held
다시 선거철이 돌아왔습니다. 다가오는 뉴욕주 예비선거는 6월 27일 실시됩니다. 부재자 투표 마감은 6월 12일(선관위 방문 요청은 6월 26일), 유권자 등록 마감은 6월 17일입니다.
주소 변경 마감도 6월 17일입니다. 뉴욕주 예비선거에 앞서 민권센터가 이끌고 있는 아태계정치력신장연맹(APA VOICE)은 두 차례의 뉴욕시의원 후보 토론회를 개최합니다.
그 가운데 베이사이드, 와잇스톤, 칼리지포인트, 더글라스톤, 리틀넥 지역을 포괄하는 뉴욕시의원 19 선거구 토론회를 특별히 한국어 통역을 제공하며 개최합니다. 이 선거구에는 한인 후보도 출마했습니다. 그리고 로어 맨해튼 차이나타운 지역을 포괄하는 뉴욕시의원 1선거구 후보 토론회는 중국어 통역을 제공하며 진행합니다.
민권센터와 APA VOICE는 19 선거구 후보 토론회를 위해 반아시안 증오범죄 대처, 뉴욕시 이민자 투표권, 플러싱 카지노 건립 등 한인들에게 중요한 이슈에 대해 미리 질문을 보냈으며 이날 후보자들이 답을 합니다.
이밖에도 참가 등록을 하면서 질문을 보내 주시면 당일 토론회에서 논의될 수도 있습니다. 후보 토론회 일정 등 주요 내용을 정리해드립니다.
Election season has returned as the upcoming New York state primary will be held on June 27th. The deadline for absentee ballots is June 12th (in-person requests accepted until June 26th), and the deadline for voter registration is June 17th.
The deadline for address changes is also June 17th. In preparation for the primary, the (APA VOICE, led by a civil rights center, will host two New York City Council candidate forums. Specifically, they will provide Korean interpretation services for the 19th district forum, which includes the Bayside, Whitestone, College Point, Douglaston, and Little Neck areas, where a Korean-American candidate is running. They will also provide Chinese interpretation services for the forum featuring candidates from the 1st district, which covers the Lower Manhattan Chinatown area.
The civil rights center and APA VOICE sent questions in advance regarding important issues for Korean-Americans, such as anti-Asian hate crimes, immigrant voting rights in New York City, and the construction of a Flushing casino, to be answered by the candidates on the day of the 19th district forum.
In addition, if you register to participate and send in your own questions, they may also be discussed at the forum. We will summarize the key details, such as the schedule for the candidate forums.
