최근 중․고등학생에게까지 마약이 유통되는 심각한 상황에서 한국 경찰청은 5월 1일부터 7월 31일까지 약 3개월간 국제 마약범죄에 대한 특별 신고기간을 운영한다.
이번 신고기간 운영은 국내 유통 마약의 대부분은 해외에서 반입되고 있으나, 실제 유통되는 양의 약 10%에 불과한 단속으로 마약범죄가 지속적으로 발생하고 있기 때문이다. 이에 따라 경찰청은 마약의 국내 유통 차단 및 한국인 마약사범 검거를 위해 이번 특별 신고기간을 운영할 예정이다.
이번 신고기간에 대한민국 국적자가 연루된 국제 마약 생산 및 유통조직에 대한 정보, 마약류 관리에 관한 법률을 위반한 마약사범, 한국으로 마약류를 밀반입하는 항공기, 선박 등 운송수단 및 국제우편, 특송화물 등 반입형태 및 물품에 관한 정보, 기타 대한민국 국적자가 연루된 마약류 범죄정보 등이 신고 대상이다.
공식적으로는 경찰청 인터폴국제공조과 부서 메일 계정(INTERPOL@police.go.kr)으로 신고가 가능하며, LA총영사관 사건/사고 신고 메일(accident-la@mofa.go.kr)도 이용 가능하다.
또한, 이번 신고기간에 중요범죄첩보 신고자에 대해 최대 2천만원까지 검거보상금을 제공할 예정이다. 이에는 재외국민 및 동포도 포함된다.
경찰청 ‘국제마약사범 특별 신고기간 운영’
The South Korean National Police Agency has announced a special reporting period for international drug crimes from May 1 to July 31, in response to the serious situation of narcotics distribution, even among middle and high school students. Despite crackdowns that have resulted in only around 10% of actual distribution being stopped, the majority of narcotics are being smuggled into the country from abroad. The police agency aims to prevent the domestic distribution of drugs and apprehend Korean drug offenders by operating this special reporting period.
During this period, reports related to Korean nationals involved in international drug production and distribution organizations, drug offenders who violate drug management laws, transportation vehicles including aircraft, ships, international mail, and special cargo that smuggles drugs into Korea, and other drug-related crimes involving Korean nationals will be accepted.
Reports can be submitted to the official email account of the Police Agency’s Interpol International Cooperation Department (INTERPOL@police.go.kr) and the email account of the LA Consulate General’s Incident/Accident Reporting (accident-la@mofa.go.kr).
Furthermore, individuals who report important crime-related information during this period may receive up to KRW 20 million as a reward, including Korean nationals and overseas Koreans.
