Welcome to THAT’S KOREA! Presenting examples of HANBOK (Korean clothing), HANSIK (Korean cuisine), and HANJI (Korean paper), we invite you to explore these cultural traditions with a special emphasis on the use of color, what we call DANCHEONG. DANCHEONG (“pattern on the palettes” but also “red and blue”) is the practice of painting decorative patterns on the surfaces of wooden structures, such as palaces and temples, with brilliant colors taken from nature. It is a visual orderliness, based on a perfect correspondence between the color-tone and nature of objects, with consistent traditional structure and use of specific iconic symbols (such as flowers, fruit, seeds, and animals). These precepts are also applied to everyday objects and items, such as utensils, clothing, paper, and even the preparation and presentation of food.
2023 한국 전통문화 페스티벌 기획전 “시각적 질서, 색”
문체부와 한국공예디자인문화진흥원(KCDF)은 4월 17일부터 22일까지 밀라노 팔라치나 아피아니(Palazzina Appiani)에서 ‘2023 한국 전통문화 페스티벌’의 기획전 <시각적 질서, 색>을 개최했다.
한국 고유의 칠인 단청의 규칙적인 구조와 화려한 색 그리고 패턴의 ‘시각적 질서’를 현대적으로 표현한 이번 전시는 김주일 예술감독이 전시기획을 맡았으며, 전통과 현대를 넘나드는 초월적 주제를 담은 미디어아트 콘텐츠를 비롯해 섬세한 선과 면의 조합으로 한국의 아름다움과 매력을 한껏 선보이는 대표 한복 4점, 우리 사계의 색채를 정갈하게 구성한 소반상, 전시장의 외부 공간을 장식하는 투명호족반과 전통 문양 보자기 등을 선보였다.
전시 기간 중에는 딱지치기와 단청 풍경 만들기, 한지 서책과 모빌 만들기 등 한국의 다양한 전통 생활문화 체험 행사도 운영되어 현지인과 교민들의 많은 관심을 끌었다.
전시장소인 팔라치나 아피아니는 밀라노 중심에 위치한 셈피오네 공원 내에 위치해 있으며 나폴레옹 시절 도시계획에 의해 지어진 이탈리아 특유의 건축물로 이번 전시 행사를 통해 동서양의 융합과 조화를 확인할 수 있는 좋은 기회가 되었다.
An exhibition to promote wider knowledge of the unequalled Korean traditional paper, HANJI. Here In Italy, HANJI is providing new inspiration as a novel medium for local artists. HANJI is a special type of Korean paper that lasts over 1,000 years! It has been a top export of our nation since ancient times in GORYEO, when the entire Korean peninsula was united into one nation. It is available in a variety of colors, textures and strengths for infinite uses. This section is a special exhibit that traces the 1,000 years historical journey of this unique and multi-faceted material, whose uses continue to evolve each and every day.
한지의 우수성을 알리기 위한 특별전으로 많은 창작자에게 영감을 주며 계속해서 새롭게 진화하고 있는 한지의 ‘오늘’을 담았다. 한지 ( 韓紙 ) 는 한국의 고유한 기법으로 한국에서 만든 종이를 말한다. 한국의 한지는 중국에서도 왕과 귀족들이 ‘ 고려지 ’ 라 하여 앞다투어 찾는 명품이었다. 질긴데다 색이 변하지 않고 보존성도 뛰어나 1,000년을 가도 끄떡 없었다. 종이를 소중히 했던 아름다운 도시 베니스에서 한국 장인의 전통 한지와 함께 그 가치를 이어가고 있는 창작자들의 작품을 볼 수 있었다.
