[K-pop] The Himalayas _ Yim Jae-beum

‘히말라야’는 따뜻한 봄은 결코 갈 수 없는 곳 히말라야 꼭대기를 한밤에 기어오르고 있는 남자의 이야기를 담았다. 임재범 정규 7집 ‘SEVEN,(세븐 콤마)’의 2막 ‘빛을 따라서…’ 타이틀 곡이다.

‘The Himalayas’ tells the story of a man who climbs the top of the Himalayas at night, a place where a warm spring can never go. This is the title song for the second act of Lim Jae-bum’s 7th full-length album, ‘SEVEN, (Seven Comma)’, ‘Follow the Light…’.

Korean Lyrics & English Trans.
    [si·lin / ba·lam / mol·a / chi·li·ni]
    The cold wind will blow,
    [o·ji / mos·hal / bom·eun / meol·gu·na]
so the spring that can’t come is far away
    [byeol·i·la·do / bam·sae·kkeos / bul·leo / bul·eul / pil·kka]
Shall I call even the stars all night and light a fire?

    [eo·dum·kka·ji / eonj·hyeo·jin / eon / ttang / wi·e]
On top of the frozen ground covered with darkness
    [sal·a / iss·neun·geo·la·gon / na / ha·na]
    I’m the only one alive
    [nun·ui / pog·bal·e / gad·hin / i / se·sang·i]
This world, trapped in the snow explosion,
    rushes like fragments

    [hyeo / kkeut·e / mae·dal·lin / o·gi·ga]
The indomitable spirit hanging at the tip of the tongue
*오기(o·gi): It is difficult to find a single word in English that corresponds to the Korean word ‘오기(o·gi)’. ‘오기’ means ‘a heart that lacks ability but does not want to lose to others.’ It is called ‘오기’ to be stubborn to continue to do something that one cannot do with one’s ability. ‘오기’ does not only have a bad will, but also includes a good ‘will’. When Koreans often say, “나도 오기가 있어(na·do / o·gi·ga / iss·eo),” it means the will to do it to the end.
    [nae / sim·jang·eul / de·wo / jeo / wi·lo / nal / de·lyeo·ga]
warms my heart and takes me up there
    [eog·se·ge / ttwi·eo / o·leul / yong·gi·ga]
The courage to jump up vigorously
    [kkae·jin / son / ma·di·leul / ta·go / heu·leu·ne]
    flows through the broken knuckles

    [jam·deul·ji / ma·la]
    Don’t fall asleep
    [kkeun / noh·ji·ma]
    Don’t lose your mind
    [god / o·sil / sae·byeog, / hae / tteu·li·ni]
The dawn, which will come soon. The sun will rise

    [peo·leon / ba·lam / hult·go / gan / geu / ja·li·e]
In the place where the blue wind swept
    [sum·eul / swi·neun·geo·la·gon / na / ha·na]
    I’m the only one breathing
    [job·eun / gye·gog·e / bag·hin / i / se·sang·i]
This world stuck in a narrow valley
    [ma·chi / song·gos·cheo·leom / pa·go / deu·neun·de]
    digs like an awl
    [bal / kkeut·e / chi·mi·neun / dog·gi·ga]
The miasma at the tip of my toe
    [nae / meo·li·leul / chae·wo / meol·li·lo / nal / de·lyeo·ga]
fills my head and takes me far away
    [jil·gi·ge / gi·eo / o·leul / kkeun·gi·ga]
    The tenacity to climb tenaciously
    [teo·jin / nae / ib·sul·eul / ta·go / peo·ji·ne]
    spreads through my bursting lips
    [go·dan·han / geol·eum·eul, / kkeul·eo·seo / olm·gi·go / tto / kkeul·eo / olm·gi·da / bo·i·neun / bong·u·lin]
The peaks that can be seen after dragging and moving the weary steps
    [chu·wi·lo / heu·lyeo·jin / heo·sang·in·ga]
Is it an illusion clouded by the cold?

    [hyeo / kkeut·e / mae·dal·lin / o·gi·ga]
The indomitable spirit hanging at the tip of the tongue
    [nae / sim·jang·eul / de·wo / jeo / wi·lo / nal / de·lyeo·ga]
warms my heart and takes me up there
    [eog·se·ge / ttwi·eo·o·leul / yong·gi·ga]
The courage to jump up vigorously
    [kkae·jin / son / ma·di·leul / ta·go / heu·leu·ne]
    flows through the broken knuckles
