하나미는 계절의 흥을 돋우고
일본의 사쿠라는 야생종에서 원예종에 이르기까지 200여종이 있다. 봄이 오면 여지없이 일본인들의 마음을 설레게 하고, 하나미(花見) 즉, 꽃구경은 계절의 흥을 돋운다. 우리 동네 사쿠라는 칸다가와(神田川)를 따라 그 자태를 뽐내며 특히 봄 뿐만 아니고 어쩌다 눈이 올 때 눈꽃을 입었을 때는 그 신비로움은 말할 수 없다.

Cherry Blossoms in Japan have over 200 species, from wild ones to garden species. In spring, the Japanese are thrilled by them, and Hanami, flower viewing spices up their mind. In my town, cherry blossoms pride themselves on their elegant figure along the Kanda stream. Especially not in spring, but when it snows, they are dressed with snow flowers, their mysterious look beyond our imagination.
