The Ministry of Justice in South Korea will issue a new and improved form of foreigner registration card with a more user-friendly and practical design for long-term foreign residents in the country from April 1st, 2023. These cards have the same legal effect as a resident registration card in various procedures and transactions as specified by law.

대한민국 법무부에서는 한국내 장기체류 외국인에게 발급하는 외국인등록증(영주증, 외국국적동포 국내거소신고증 포함)∗의 디자인을 변경하여 편의성과 활용성이 한층 향상된 새로운 형태의 외국인등록증을 2023.4.1.부터 발급합니다.
