SEOUL — A new large-scale global audition program aimed at discovering the next generation of K-POP talent is now accepting applications, offering aspiring performers around the world a chance to debut on an international stage.
Organizers of the competition, titled “My KPOP Star,” announced that the audition is open to anyone with an interest in K-POP, regardless of nationality, age, or professional background. Participants may apply as individuals or teams, and there are no restrictions on genre—vocalists, bands, dancers, and mixed-performance acts are all eligible.
A Fully Viewer-Driven Survival Format
Unlike traditional audition programs, “My KPOP Star” will be conducted as a 100% viewer-voted survival competition, emphasizing audience engagement throughout every stage of the process. The competition will unfold in three main phases:
- Preliminary Round (Online Screening): Applicants submit performance videos, which are uploaded to official channels. Based on public engagement and evaluation, selected contestants advance.
- Semi-Finals (Top 30): The top 30 contestants will participate in studio-recorded performances that are released to the public, leading to further elimination rounds.
- Finals (Top 10): The top 10 finalists will perform on a live broadcast stage, where real-time audience voting determines the final rankings.
Major Prize and Industry Opportunities
The scale of rewards reflects the global ambition of the project. The winner will receive a grand prize of ₩100 million (approximately $75,000 USD). Contestants placing 2nd through 10th will each receive ₩2 million. Beyond monetary awards, the program offers significant industry exposure and career development opportunities:
- Production of professional live performance clips for all finalists
- Opportunities to participate in domestic and international concerts
- Access to K-POP trainee training programs
