Bringing depth and adding richness are what Trader Joe’s Bay Leaves do best. They flaunt pungent aroma, a sharp, bitter bite, and famously encourage other flavors to mingle. Use Bay Leaves to season soups, stews or sauces. Add them to pickling liquids or marinades for meat or fish. Boil them in water before cooking seafood. They are even great for flavoring custard. Bay Leaves are most often used whole (commonly in a bouquet garni). The flavor is slowly absorbed from the oils of the leaves during cooking. Prior to serving, always remember to remove the leaves.
