The New York University Abu Dhabi Art Center collaborated with the Korean Cultural Center in the United Arab Emirates to hold the “Barzakh Festival 2023” on February 4th (Sat) at the New York University Abu Dhabi Art Center.
The “Barzakh Festival,” which celebrates its 7th anniversary this year, is a major annual event of the New York University Abu Dhabi Art Center, where global musicians present stages that combine their traditions and cultures with modern music.
At this year’s Barzakh Festival, the Korean band “Akdangwangchil” participated and delivered positive energy through their performance.

올해 7회째 맞이하는 뉴욕대 아부다비 아트센터의 주요 연례행사인 “Barzakh Festival”은 글로벌 뮤지션들이 그들의 전통과 문화를 현대와 결합한 무대를 선보이는 행사이다.
이번 Barazakh Festival에는 한국의 밴드 “악단광칠”이 참여하여 공연을 통해 긍정적 에너지를 전달하였다.

< 악단광칠 >
The Arts Center와의 온라인 콘서트를 통해 극찬을 받으며 UAE에 데뷔 한 악단광칠(ADG7)은 6명의 한국 전통 음악가와 3명의 실력 있는 여성 포크 가수로 구성된 다수의 수상 경력에 빛나는 한국 전통 밴드이다. 그룹명 악단광칠에서 악단은 음악그룹을 번역한 것이고, ‘광칠’은 한국 광복절 70주년에 밴드가 결성을 기념하여 짓게 되었다. 그들은 전통적인 무속 음악(굿)과 북한의 서쪽에 위치한 황해도의 한국 민요를 혼합하였다.

ADG7 (Akdangwangchil)
ADG7, a Korean traditional band composed of six Korean traditional musicians and three talented female folk singers with multiple award-winning careers, made their debut in UAE to great acclaim through an online concert with The Arts Center. The group’s name “ADG7” stands for “Akdangwangchil,” which means “band” in Korean and was chosen to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day. They blend traditional shamanic music (gut) with Korean folk songs from Hwanghae-do, located in the western part of North Korea.
