With the stabilization of the COVID situation and the resumption of active overseas travel, various incidents and accidents are occurring in tourist destinations such as Cape Town. As South Africa is experiencing a high incidence of violent crimes such as street robberies, please always be mindful of your safety and seek the guidance of a well-informed local tour guide when moving around tourist areas.
특히 테이블마운틴 등 고지대를 등반 하실 경우, 안전한 등산코스를 사전에 확인해 주시고, 정해진 등산로를 이용하는 등 안전수칙을 준수하여 주시기 바랍니다. 지난 2월 13일(월) 케이프타운 한인회에서 공지한 내용을 참조 하셔서 안전한 여행 되시기 바랍니다. Especially if you plan to climb high-altitude areas such as Table Mountain, please check the safe hiking course in advance and follow safety rules such as using designated hiking trails. Please refer to the notice announced by the Korean Association in Cape Town on February 13th (Monday) and have a safe trip.
케이프타운의 관광산업이 코로나19의 영향에서 서서히 벗어나는듯 오랜만에 활기가 느껴지는 대망의 2023년도 벌써 2월 중순으로 접어들고 있습니다. 그동안 침체기를 겪었던 만큼 이러한 활력이 참으로 소중하게 느껴집니다. It seems that Cape Town’s tourism industry is slowly recovering from the impact of COVID-19, and there is a long-awaited sense of vitality as we approach mid-February in 2023. As we have experienced a period of stagnation, this newfound energy is truly precious.
관광업에 종사하시는 분들껜 좋은 소식들로 풍성해지고 관광을 하시는 분들께는 안전하고 즐거운 추억들이 함께하기를 소망하면서 몇가지 당부의 말씀을 드리고자 합니다. I would like to offer a few words of advice to those working in the tourism industry, hoping that they will be blessed with good news, and to those who are traveling, wishing for safe and enjoyable memories together.
- ATM 이용이나 카드 이용시 주의를 기울여 주십시오. Please exercise caution when using an ATM or a card.
케이프타운이 타 도시에 비해서 비교적 평화로우나 사이사이 한국 카드를 노리는 사건들이 과거에 많이 일어났던 만큼 주의를 기울이셔서 관련 범죄에 피해를 보지 않기를 당부드립니다. Cape Town is relatively peaceful compared to other cities, but there have been many incidents in the past where Korean tourists were targeted for crime. Therefore, please be cautious and avoid becoming a victim of related crimes.
- 여행시 야생초들을 채집하지 마시기 바랍니다. Please do not pick wildflowers while traveling.
바다는 관련 라이센스가 있지만 야생초는 관련 라이센스조차도 없으므로 무조건 불법이며 처벌또한 가볍지 않습니다. 주의해 주시기 바랍니다.Unlike the sea which has related licenses, wild plants do not even have related licenses, so harvesting them without permission is illegal and the penalty is not light. Please be careful.
- 혹 도보로 이동시 현지 여성이나 미성년자들과 시비가 붙지 마시길 바랍니다. 일부러 노리고 시비를 거는 현지 여성이나 미성년자들이 있을수 있습니다. Please refrain from getting into arguments with local women or underage individuals if you are traveling on foot. There may be some local women or underage individuals who deliberately provoke and engage in arguments.
- 자동차로 여행시 주,정차때 자동차 잠금이 제대로 되어있는지 재차 확인하시기 바랍니다. When traveling by car, please make sure to double-check that the car is properly locked during parking and stopping.
자동차 락을 걸 때 방해하여 자동차 안에 있던 물건들을 훔치는 행위들이 제법 많이 일어납니다. 주의를 기울여 주십시오. There are quite a few incidents of people obstructing car locks and stealing items inside the car. Please be careful and attentive.
- 자동차안에 돈이 될만한 물건들을 놔두지 마시길 바랍니다. Please do not leave any valuable items in the car.
물건들이 눈에 띌 경우 훔치기 위하여 유리창을 훼손할 수도 있습니다. 크로스로 메는 가방에 간단한 물건만 꼭 넣으시고 나머지 짐은 트렁크에 넣으시기 바랍니다. If your belongings are noticeable, someone may break the glass to steal them. Please only carry simple items in your shoulder bag and store the rest of your luggage in the trunk.
- 바다에서 수영할때 주의하십시요. Please be careful when swimming in the ocean.
특히 테이블 마운틴 앞쪽 대서양(켐스베이등)은 수온도 낮고 수심이 갑자기 깊어지며 이안류가 많이 발생되는 곳입니다. 하여, 현지인들도 해당 장소에서는 수영보다는 주로 썬텐을 많이 즐기는 듯 합니다. 수영은 해수풀장이거나 수심이 완만한(뮤젠버그등)곳에서 하시길 당부드립니다. Especially the Atlantic Ocean in front of Table Mountain (such as Camps Bay) has low water temperatures, sudden depth changes, and strong currents. Therefore, locals seem to prefer sunbathing rather than swimming in this area. We recommend swimming in a swimming pool or in areas with shallow depths (such as Muizenberg).
- 등산, 혹은 산행시 꼭!!! 정해진 루트를 이용하시기 바랍니다. When hiking or mountain climbing, please use a designated route.
특히, 테이블마운틴은 바다에서 융기한 산으로 바위는 부서지기 쉬운 사암으로 되어있고 산행 해보신분들은 아시겠지만 사이사이 해변의 모래같은 미끄러운 모래들이 제법 있습니다. 하여, 외견상으로 보이는 것보다 훨씬 위험하며 지난 1월에도 한국에서 오신 여행객분이 낙상을 하신 것 외에도 1년에 100건 이상 낙상으로 인한 사망사고가 잇따르는 위험한 곳입니다. 테이블마운틴 뿐 아니라 어느곳에서든 안전수칙을 꼭 지키시어 안전하고 즐거운 여행 되시길 바랍니다. In particular, Table Mountain is a mountain that has been formed from sandstone that is prone to breaking due to erosion from the sea. As those who have hiked the mountain know, there are many slippery sand patches like beach sand in between the rocks. Therefore, it is much more dangerous than it appears, and there have been over 100 fatal accidents due to falls each year, in addition to a Korean tourist who fell in January. Whether it’s Table Mountain or any other location, please follow safety precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.
