미국 시티즌이 내는 세금이 얼마나 많이 군사비에 쓰이고 있는지 알아보고, 군비 삭감과 복지 확대를 요구하는 평화운동을 소개한 한인 라디오 방송입니다. 서류미비자와 납세자 번호 안내 영상
최근 민권센터가 적극 홍보하고 있는 서류미비자들의 납세자 번호 신청과 세금 납부에 대한 안내 영상을 유튜브 채널에 올렸습니다. 서류미비자라 하더라도 납세자 번호로 은행 계좌를 열고, 자동차와 모기지 융자 등을 받을 수 있습니다. 또 중요한 것은 앞으로 서류미비자 합법화 법이 제정돼 이민 신청을 할 때 세금을 납부해왔으면 심사에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있습니다.
The recent video uploaded on the MinKwon Center’s YouTube channel provides guidance on how undocumented immigrants can apply for a taxpayer ID number and pay taxes, which the center actively promotes. Even undocumented immigrants can open bank accounts and obtain car loans and mortgages with a taxpayer ID number. Importantly, if a legalization law for undocumented immigrants is enacted in the future, paying taxes can have a positive impact on the application process.

Paying taxes is the best way to prove your income and residency during your stay in the United States. It is also considered as evidence of having a ‘good moral character,’ which is one of the criteria for immigration screening. The IRS protects the identity of the taxpayer when collecting taxes, so there is no risk of deportation. If you pay taxes using your taxpayer identification number and later receive a Social Security number, you can continue to use your past tax payment records.
