Attention to all Hallyu fans in Canada!
Hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver in partnership with the Department of Asian Studies at UBC, the 2023 Quiz on Korea Canada Preliminary Round is taking place on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00am at the UBC Asian Centre (1871 West Mall, Vancouver).
Quiz on Korea is an annual gameshow that quizzes non-Korean adults on their knowledge of Korean culture, social news, history, etc.
Countries around the world will hold preliminary rounds in which one winner is chosen to move to the final round in Korea. The finalists will appear on a special television segment broadcast by the national public broadcaster, KBS. Flights to Korea and accommodations will be provided to each finalist- so don’t miss out on this incredible chance to win a free trip to Korea!

[Entry Eligibility]
- Must be 18 years of age or older (as of May 6, 2023)
- Must be a Canadian citizen with a Canadian passport
- Must speak Korean
- Applicant cannot hold and should have never held Korean nationality or ethnicity (or have any immediate family members holding Korean nationality or ethnicity)
- Must be able to participate in the preliminary round in-person at UBC (on May 6, 2023)
- Applicant must be available to travel to Korea for the final round of the competition which will take place in early September 2023.
- Applicant must have genuine interest in and knowledge of Korea and Korean culture.
- Individuals who have previously participated in the Quiz on Korea Final Round held in Korea are not eligible to apply again.

[Evaluation]
All applications will be screened and only qualified applicants will receive an email invitation with full event details to participate in the 2023 Quiz on Korea- Canada Preliminary Round by April 28th, 2023.
[KBS 2023 Quiz on Korea Final Round in Korea]
Date: Saturday, September 10, 2023
- A week-long tour program (9.3-9.11) in Korea will be provided for all final round contestants.
- All final round contestants must participate with their legal name and will be filmed and broadcasted during their Korea tour and final round.
- The tour and the final round will be conducted in Korean only. No translation will be provided.

라트비아대사관은 퀴즈 온 코리아(Quiz on Korea) 라트비아 예선전을 2023.4.26.(수) 18:00 VEF Culture Palace의 Chamber Hall(3층)에서 개최할 예정입니다.
참가 마감 기한은 4.15(토) 이며, 50명 선착순 마감 예정입니다. (선착순 마감 시 공지 예정) 퀴즈 문항은 영어로도 제공될 예정이니 한국 문화에 관심 있는 분들의 많은 참여 바랍니다!

o 참가 자격
- 만 18세 이상의 한국어 구사 가능한 라트비아 국적자
- 본인 및 직계가족이 한국 국적을 보유하거나 보유했던 적이 없는 자
※ 동 행사의 취지는 한국에 대한 외국인의 인식제고로, 재외동포 및 재외동포 직계가족 재외 - 한국 결승전 기간(2023.9.3.~9.11일 잠정, 주최 측 사정에 따라 변경 가능) 동안 방한 및 체류일정 상 문제가 없는 자*
*한국 방문 기간 동안 항공권 및 체재비는 한국 측 부담

NOTICE : 2023 Quiz on Korea
Qualifier in Latvia
Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Latvia will hold Quiz on Korea Qualifier in Latvia on 2023 April 26 (Wed) at 18:00 in Chamber Hall (3rd floor) of the VEF Culture Palace.
Registration Deadline is 15 April (Sat), but participant number is limited to 50 people in the order of application. We will inform when the registration number reaches to 50. And the Quiz question will be also provided in English, so do not hesitate to register if you are interested in Korean culture!
Who can participate (Check the registration form together)
o Eligibility
- Latvian citizens over the age of 18 who can speak Korean
- Individual and his/her immediate families who are not of Korean nationality and who never had Korean nationality
*Quiz on Korea is for raising awareness about Korea among foreigners, hence overseas Koreans and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate. - Individuals must be available to visit Korea during the final round which will take place from 3 Sep-11 Sep 2023 (It could be changed)
- Airfare and expenses of staying during the visit to Korea will be supported by Korean side

Individual who did not participate in the final round in Korea before
o Registration Deadline : Until 15 April (Sat), limited to 50 people in the order of registration (We will inform as the registration number reaches to 50 people.)
